High court undoes Scalia's pro-tobacco order

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia exercised a rarely used power last fall to let Philip Morris USA and three other big tobacco companies delay making multimillion-dollar payments for a program to help people quit smoking.

This week, the court said he was wrong about that.

Fox News Calls Jon Stewart a Racist and Stewart Strikes Back

After a little back-and-forth in the past week since Stewart's appearance on "Fox News Sunday," where he asserted that Fox News viewers were the most "misinformed" viewers, then later built a verbal wall of erroneous statements and stories presented and repeatedly perpetrated by Fox News, the Fox News collective decided that their best shot at the "liberal" comedian was to question his fairness and attempt to label him a racist.

Raise taxes on wealthiest, Obama challenges GOP

In a blunt challenge to Republicans in Congress, President Barack Obama insisted Wednesday that eliminating selected tax breaks for oil companies and the super-wealthy must be part of any deficit reduction plan.

Subject: Re Bachmann line re being from Iowa.

Hi Lisa,

Have enjoyed your site for years.

Glad you are back in the swing of things.

According to nndb.com, (Bachmann) she was 'born' in Iowa but attended
high school in another state. College too I believe. She doesn't appear
to be a 'native daughter' of Iowa at all.

Oh the spin jobs!

Whatever politics...

Thanks

lee

Thanks for writing, Lee, and the kind words.

I'm sorta back in the swing of things and hopefully it will continue.

I have no problem with Bachmann milking her birth state.. I have a problem with being unable to stop laughing about her historical malfunctions!

Have a great day.

What Does Justin Timberlake, Rupert Murdoch and MySpace Have In Common?

News Corp has sold Myspace for $35 million, a fraction of what it paid for the once-hot social media site even as a new generation of Web-based start-ups is enjoying sky-high valuations.

Advertising company Specific Media will team with the singer Justin Timberlake to acquire Myspace in a deal that caps a tumultuous period of ownership under Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, which swooped in to buy Myspace for $580 million in 2005.

As you sow, so shall you reap

Glenn Beck just wanted to take his family to an Alfred Hitchcock movie in Bryant Park on Monday night, but hateful hecklers ruined everything..."I swear to you," Beck continued. "I think, if I would've suggested, and I almost did, 'Wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there's a tree here. You could just lynch me.'

Republican Underwear Underexposure

When U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner admitted June 6 that he sent sexually explicit text messages and photographs of himself to several people before and during his marriage, the calls for his resignation came swiftly and sharply.

But when news broke that Kenner City Councilman Joe Stagni sent a picture of himself in his underwear to a city employee and had an "inappropriate" relationship with her, the reaction was muted.

Odd News

Jimmy, a 26-year-old chimpanzee, and Roched Seba, who has been teaching him how to paint, caress themselves as Seba holds a painting made by the chimp at a zoo in Niteroi, Brazil, Monday, Sept. 20, 2010. The monkey's paintings have been catching everyone's attention at a Brazilian zoo, and an exhibition for Jimmy the chimp is already in the works.

Peace through painting.
