Thank you all.
The continued outpouring of emails, donations and lots of hugs have really overwhelmed and surprised me.
As many viewers wrote -- "all you had to do was ask'"
I printed a smattering of the e-mails I received.
Hello Lisa,
Please have faith that people will donate money.
I enjoy your site very much. It's becoming increasingly difficult to face what
our country is doing around the world. People are very tired. Many, particularly
in Michigan, are losing their jobs in record numbers. They are very tired of
Bush and his cartel.
As the people at the top acquire more and
more of the money in circulation, there is much less for the majority of the
people.

I have enjoyed your site for over a year now but
you are right, I have never donated. I will send you a check in the mail
tomorrow for $50. I hope others donate as well. I love your site and I look
forward to reading it every day!
Thanks,
Connie B

Yeah, yeah, yeah - the second great lie. But in this case it's true. I've been
one of those non-contributing daily visitors to your site for a few years. Shame
on me! So I just sent you $100 via personal check.
The first great lie? "I'm from the government. I'm here to help you."
Maybe donations are down because of all the nastiness at PayPal? And advertising
because Karl Rove found out about you?
Keep up the good work, for which I thank you. And good luck.
Sincerely,
Skip Scown
just kicked in $100 bucks for all you do to keep
me sane! I live in Tex-ass, so I need it!
keep up the great work.
Lori

Okay, I get that it's not the same...still,
better a sincere wish than an insincere action.
Can't donate, came up with major health issues and no insurance. While I
probably feel more impoverished than I am I have to go with the gut.

Lisa:
I just read your personal note and I had no idea that you were going through
such a world of s**t. I'm really sorry to hear that. You deserve so much better
On the bright side, it is often said that you can never be too rich or too thin.
Obviously you are not too rich...
Okay, so my sense of humor isn't quite up to yours, but you please consider
yourself bear hugged from this guy in Kentucky.

Hello Lisa
I've never written to you before. I've read your website on most days for a long
time now. It often brings a smile when smiles are hard to find in these
wonderous times we're livin' in. I haven't sent money because I rearranged my
life 6 years ago and now live on very little, trying to stay out of the
increasing insanity I see around us. However I would send some before I let your
website close down.
I suspected you must have split up with your husband since there's been no
mention of him at all, and you moved suddenly, without comment. I've looked thru
your bio stuff on the website and I get that you are a warm and caring and
concerned person, and I want to thank you for that.
There are many great people on the progressive web, many brilliant brains. But
open and compassionate hearts are not in great supply among them. The humanness
of your site shines through; the personal and all. I really appreciate that, and
want to thank your for sharing little pieces of your own life and story with all
of your readers. I know you can't be any way but that, but still its rare. I can
only imagine some of the email you must receive from some of the less
enlightened members of our population. So thank you for taking all of that while
continuing to give and pour your passions and humor and general awakeness into
what you do.
It may be a bit rough in your personal life at the moment, but you are clearly a
very strong person. May I remind you again that this too shall pass, and you'll
get your bearings again and renew your life and start taking off in new
directions. I know this will be true.
So, thank you again
take care

I just sent you money via snail mail. It's not
even worth mentioning,
but if everyone who hit your site sent you what I did, you would be
loaded. I love your links. Keep up the good work.

Lisa, sent you some money via paypal and
apoligize for not having sent before. The work you do is so necessary and so
deserving of adequate compensation in these difficult days.
I am new to this internet thing but I read the New York Times in the morning and
your site in the afternoon and put them on equal footing.
Thank you very much, Jimmy
Dear Lisa,
My wife and I have been delinquent in not supporting your efforts and your
fabulous site. We are including a donation to Pay Pal and wish you continued
success in providing so many of us with your excellent creativity and humor.
Your website gives a much needed relief from the madness that now dominates our
Country.
Stay strong! Know that your work and creativity brings a sense of relief that we
indeed are not the only ones who are aghast at the deliberate dismantling of our
laws and traditions.
Peace and God's Blessings,
DK and Kay

Dear Lisa,
I can't thank you enough for being there through all these miserable "W" years
with bits of humor mixed with the news. Most progressive sites just publish the
same stuff, and there's too many out there that just repeat the same stream of
bad news out of the White House and Congress.
Thank goodness your site is different! I love the cartoons, satire, and quotes
from Letterman and Leno.
I do have a suggestion: perhaps every few months you could be a little more
daring and bold on asking for help. For example, Anti-War.com puts a big
"campaign" banner at the top of their page every quarter to ask for support (you
can't miss it). They show a "goal" that must be met to keep the site going.
Most people get complacent about supporting web sites because we all tend to
think of them like CNN or BBC, which are always there and don't need or ask for
help. I need to be reminded that my favorite sites like Anti-War.com,
Rawstory.com, yours and others are independent and need financial help from time
to time.
I hope you can keep the site up and running. As an old-fashioned Southern
Democrat that watched while the Republicans slowly lied their way into many
offices in my original home state of Tennessee, I think we all have to work hard
toward reversing that tide. We need to emphasize solutions!
Best of luck with your kids, your home, and your work with progressive issues.
And, for heavens sake, don't neglect your health even for a good cause (listen
to the voice of experience - been there)!
Please don't hesitate to ask me or others for help in the future.
Big HUG from Kentucky!!
Kindest regards,
Gary

I have the best viewers on all of the Internets! My donations have reached over $2600. Deep curtsy.
I am still answering each e-mail sent to me.
