JACKSONVILLE -- Bill McBride compared Jeb Bush to a careless orange picker and told a statewide television audience Friday night that Bush has failed to show the leadership needed to earn a second term as governor.

JACKSONVILLE -- Education stole the spotlight in round one between Democrat Bill McBride and Republican Jeb Bush, with each lobbing sharp criticism at the otherís approach to improving public schools, during the first televised debate of the governorís race.

Bush repeatedly painted McBride as a liberal lawyer, too close to teachersí unions, too eager to raise taxes and too vague on how heíll pay for his promises.
