The two Georges contemplate

President-select Bush issued an executive order Saturday that de-unionizes all federal contracts. The sweeping change will allow unqualified minimum wage workers to transport material, construct bridges and buildings, and perform other federal jobs, all without the guarantee of benefits or job protection. In essence, the U.S. government can shut out skilled union labor and award lucrative contracts to companies ready and willing to hire workers off street corners. Dubya's order overturns President Clinton's policy, which required skilled workers for government contract work. Sure sounds like payback to the unions for supporting Al Gore.
