Clinton is now being investigated for pardoning Marc Rich, who dealt with Iran around the same time as Reagan/Bush did
Iran-Contra figures, pictured below, have close ties to President-select Bush. Bush claims he was out of the loop in encouraging the Rich investigation. His daddy used the same line.
Hypocrisy is rampant again on Capitol Hill over the pardon of Marc Rich by Bill Clinton. The Republicans have donned their "Inspector Clouseau" hats to go after Clinton -- again. Have the Republicans forgotten the Iran-Contra Affair and all the damage it did? President Papa Bush pardoned Caspar Weinberger and five other Iran-Contra figures Christmas Day in 1992, his last month in office, and the Democrats let it lie. But Payback for the successful investigations of Watergate, Iran-Contra and other Republican crimes seems to be the mantra of the GOP since it gained control of Congress in the early '90s...and now they have the White House. Is this what President-select Bush meant by restoring civility to politics?
