Comedian extraordinaire Al Franken, author of Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and an outspoken opponent of right-wing Repugnicans, uncovered a falsehood told recently by Bill O'Reilly on C-SPAN. O'Reilly had claimed that the tabloid TV show Inside Edition won a prestigious Peabody award while he was its anchor. Turns out, the show won a different award -- and not while O'Reilly was with it. When confronted with his error, O'Reilly went on a rant against Franken instead of doing the right thing and correcting himself. O'Reilly accused Franken of engaging in a "jihad" against him, which is a pretty curious statement considering that jihad is a Muslim Holy War and Franken is certainly not of Arabic descent. But maybe jihad does apply here: O'Reilly's slash-and-burn style of political commentary certainly should have taught him that if you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
