Iraq, Afghan veterans call for respect for Muslims A small but growing group of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have signed onto an open letter, provided exclusively to the Huffington Post, which calls on the American public to respect "the values we risked our lives to protect" and to avoid endangering the mission -- and safety -- of U.S. forces in the Mideast.

Unsettled nation marks 9/11 with rituals of sorrow First came the tears, the solemn bugle call and the recital of the names of the dead. Then came the chants, speeches and angry shouts. |
Fellow Americans' suspicions frustrate US Muslims Nine years of denouncing terrorism, of praying side-by-side with Jews and Christians, of insisting "I'm American, too." None of it could stop a season of hate against Muslims that made for an especially fraught Sept. 11. Now, Muslims are asking why their efforts to be accepted in the United States have been so easily thwarted. |

Right Wingers Even Demonstrate Against Mosque Near ’7/11′
By Don Davis
“Florida
Pastor Terry Jones originally planned to burn the Koran tomorrow, then yesterday
he called it off because he believed he made a deal with an Imam to stop the
plan to build a Mosque near Ground Zero. The Imam said that wasn’t true, he
agreed to no such thing. Then Pastor Jones said he was lied to and the burning
was back on. This guy is unbelievable. He’s like the Brett Favre of burning
books.” –Jimmy Kimmel
