If you're compiling a list of public figures even less popular in California than Gray Davis, one name is likely to top it: former Enron chairman Kenneth "Kenny Boy" Lay. Voters in the Golden State are behaving like sheep these days, but even the dimmest of them can probably remember how Enron and the other corporate vultures descended on them during the electricity "crisis" of 2001.

What California voters may no longer remember, however, is that after the third wave of rolling blackouts hit their state, Kenny Boy quietly summoned a select group to the Beverly Hills Hotel on May 11, 2001. And they may also have forgotten that one of the prominent Republicans who showed up at Lay's request was Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Enron Banks Dodge a Bullet
Chase and Citi got off easy with a fine—at least for now.
FORTUNE - Monday, August 11, 2003 -By Bethany McLean and Peter Elkind

When it comes to Enron, there's nothing swift or sure about justice. It's been almost 21 months since Enron declared bankruptcy. Amid ongoing investigations by the Justice Department and the SEC, more than a dozen former Enron employees have been indicted but none has gone to jail yet, and neither Ken Lay nor Jeff Skilling has been charged with any crime....

California will provide lessons for all
The Coloradoan - 8-11-03

Depending on your point of view, Democratic Gov. Davis either mismanaged California's energy crisis and spent the state into a huge budget deficit or was handed the impossible task of cleaning up an energy mess made by Enron (and President Bush's buddy Ken Lay) and a budget mess left over from Davis' Republican predecessor, Pete Wilson...

He's everywhere, he's everywhere.  Except in jail.

Ken Lay's top connection is George W. and now we find out Ahnold attended an elite meeting, about the California energy crisis, headed by the same Ken Lay of Enron.  Why was Ahnold invited ?  To explain the benefits of how muscle building leads to Hollywood fame? Or how a republican can have a happy marriage with a democrat? Ahnold is no muscle head.

The unrighteous right changed the cultural definition of the word liberal to mean something evil--and now Fox News is suing Franken for using an everyday phrase?  Aren't these the same unrighteous right that constantly whine about frivolous lawsuits?

CIA disclosure is dangerous

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER EDITORIAL BOARD

There's a cancer somewhere in the Bush administration. Two officials revealed national security information to embarrass or scare critics of the administration's mishandling of Iraqi intelligence.

Columnist Robert Novak wrote recently that the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson -- the man who blew the whistle on the Niger uranium fraud -- is a Central Intelligence Agency operative, specializing in weapons of mass destruction. Novak attributed his information to two senior administration officials. Time magazine has said officials provided similar information....
