"I just don't think we can let these
people back into polite society and give them seats on university boards and
corporate boards and just pretend that nothing ever happened, when there are
4,000 American dead and 25,000 Americans grievously wounded. ... Someone should
have to pay in some way for the decisions that they made to mislead the American
people."

Ask No Questions, They'll Tell No Lies
There is an important line in last week's Senate intelligence committee report on the Bush administration's prewar exaggerations of the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. It says that the panel did not review "less formal communications between intelligence agencies and other parts of the Executive Branch."

"According to the National Intelligence director, only 30% of Afghanistan and its borders are under control by the government. Only 30%. Which sounds bad, until you realize only 20% of California borders are under control." --Jay Leno

Comparing Michelle Obama to Barbara Bush? Oh, My!

WHILE it’s not often that Michelle Obama and Barbara Bush appear in the same sentence, there are those who think that, as Barack Obama’s historic candidacy powers along, his wife seems to be borrowing from the playbook of the wife of Bush 41 and mother of Bush 43. We are talking here in terms of image and style.
John McCain turned his attention to the fall election on Tuesday after the GOP primaries formally ended. The nice thing about being a Republican is that they are never torn in two along racial lines. Their idea of a man of color is George Hamilton. - Argus Hamilton

Dear Lisa,
Having to miss posting for a day or two and then sharing with us why it happened
is one thing. If anything, that adds to
the appeal of your site---one individual struggling to tell the truth, sometimes
against difficult odds (including those e-mails
from right-wing cranks), and we're all rooting for you!
But being forced to permanently cut back to only two or three times a week when
you really don't want to is quite another
matter.
Sometimes it seems like us progressives need to come out swinging while
tip-toeing on eggshells at the same time.
What a wild political ride it has been so far indeed, and apparently always will
be, huh?
AHNC is unique, and is certainly a much needed dose of laughter and therapy for
many people in these uncertain times.
Most of us probably wouldn't have the patience, ambition or know-how to attempt
what you're doing (well, me anyway).
Lisa, here's hoping that despite the tanking Bushite economy, enough folks are
still able to help out to keep you going!
Best, Ron
Big hug Ron. That was one of the nicest emails I have ever received.
As far as AHNC continuing the daily edition -- I'm all for it -- it's up to my viewers now. Maybe AHNC has run it's course?
One of the reasons I put my face and name on my website was that I didn't want people to be afraid of this administration, to stand up to them and say "Bring it on." Well, I have been doing that since 2000 and the U.S. media has not. Watching the media ring the impeachment bell for Bill cheating on Hillary in the 90s, selling us selection 2000, the bogus Iraq War, and now the final cruel knockout punch of the Clintons has just reinforced my distrust of them and a deep fear for our country.
Obama is our hope now and McCain isn't. It's that simple.
Thank you so much for writing.
Good news, donations have neared $700 since my pathetic plea for funds! I am now only about a grand shy of my goal. Hey, ya'll it ain't easy to live on less than a grand a month!
Thank you all!
