When Bush (sans flight suit) delivered a photo-op victory speech to the men and women of the USS Abraham Lincoln, he solemnly noted, "We've begun the search for hidden chemical and biological weapons and already know of hundreds of sites that will be investigated." This attempt at assurance was disingenuous and a continuation of one of the Administration's Big Lies of the war on Iraq: We had to invade now to protect you from terrible weapons of mass destruction.

LONDON (Reuters) - After intensive research, scientists have concluded that politicians lie.

In a study described in Britain's Observer newspaper, Glen Newey, a political scientist at Britain's University of Strathclyde, concluded that lying is an important part of politics in the modern democracy.

"Politicians need to be more honest about lying," he told the newspaper.

There must have been two wars in Iraq. There was the war I saw and wrote about as a print journalist embedded with a tank company of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized). Then there was the war that many Americans saw, or wanted to see, on TV.

I found AHNC when I was googling for Bush cartoons, and did I hit pay dirt! AHNC is now home page on my computer at work. (Salon is my home page at home.) I look forward to every new issue and when the cartoons are really exceptional, I set them as Background. Sock Puppet was my background for many days, and it made one of the lawyers at work laugh his ass off and the other one squirm. Mission accomplished.

I also enjoy your columns and the pictures of you and Lisa. I would enjoy your columns more, though, if you were more conservative in your comma usage. You are comma crazy, IMHO.

But I am a compassionate conservative where commas are concerned. This is because I, too, was comma crazy until 20 years ago when I worked for a certain arrogant, sarcastic psychiatrist who was also a genius in many ways.

He cured me by telling me to ask myself, every time I wanted to throw in a comma, if the sentence would make sense without that comma. If so, I should dispense with the comma. That is how I became a comma conservative, and it has served me well.

Other than the extra commas, I enjoy your writing very much. Keep up the great work.
