It's Official: Bush Admin Saw Iraq As Religious War |
It's just a movie: Controversy over 'Angels and Demons' is overblown |
I still can't figure out why Jesus was Bush's favorite political philosopher, they're such complete opposites.
"In a reversal of his position,
President Obama this week said he now opposes the release of photographs showing
terror suspects being abused in Afghanistan and Iraq. Meaning we'll just have to
wait for Dick Cheney's Christmas card." --Amy Poehler

"Torture. That is the story that just
will not go away in this country, and now with Nancy Pelosi in the middle of it.
Yes, Republicans keep changing their story on torture. First it was, 'We didn't
torture.' Then it was, 'Okay we tortured, but it worked.' And now it's, 'Nancy
Pelosi said we could! She said it was okay!'" --Bill Maher
Wow. Holding People Accountable?
TO paraphrase Al Pacino in “Godfather III,” just when we thought we were out, the Bush mob keeps pulling us back in. And will keep doing so. No matter how hard President Obama tries to turn the page on the previous administration, he can’t. Until there is true transparency and true accountability, revelations of that unresolved eight-year nightmare will keep raining down drip by drip, disrupting the new administration’s high ambitions.
“Cheney, who had five deferments
himself to get out of going to Vietnam, would rather follow a blowhard
entertainer who has had three divorces and a drug problem (who also avoided
Vietnam) than a four-star general who spent his life serving his country.” -
Maureen Dowd, NYTimes columnist/plagaririst
Disturbing News
"Newt Gingrich yesterday was all over TV. He called Nancy Pelosi a 'trivial politician.' Pretty strong words from a guy who goes on CNN just to swipe food from the green room. A 'trivial politician,' as opposed to Newt himself, who is a very serious, unemployed fat guy who runs a think tank out of his basement." --Bill Maher
Subject: Nancy Pelosi
Lisa,
I think people are missing the main issue with Pelosi. As a Fed with a
security clearance, I think I can speak with some credibility.
For conversation purposes let's say she knew everything. All she could do is
write a classified letter like Jane Hartmann did! Anything else and she would
have violated her security agreement and could be prosecuted for making public
classified information.
The the real issue is that Boehner is stating that intelligence officials have
"told him" that Pelosi was briefed and what information was briefed. That
information should be available on a need to know basis. What is "the bronzed
man's" need to know? Who are these people, they have violated their security
agreements?
Why is the press corps not asking these questions.
As a member of Congress he should identify these people who have leaked/violated
security agreements, since he has admitted that the CIA has has a security
breach on network news shows.
Just my thoughts about Monday's edition, keep up the good work.

Thanks for writing, T.
I think this Pelosi situation is one that has become too convoluted -- due to all the GOP squawking and Pelosi herself.
The press corps should investigate where Boehner got his information from but will they? Maybe a few die hard reporters will. I think there are a few of them left, somewhere.
Pelosi is being treated by the GOP the same way Valerie Plame was. Traitors calling the victim a traitor. Typical GOP strategy. Accuse your enemy of your sins.
I was shocked, I tell you shocked when I saw this GOP Cuban hack, Alejandro "Alex" Castellanos say “if Speaker Pelosi were still capable of human facial expression, we’d see she’d be embarrassed, because, right now, she is in a very Nixon-like position.” So Alex not only insults Nancy's face but calls her a Republican to boot! Boy, talk about having it both ways.
Here's a great synopsis of the GOP misogyny machine - Yet again, media figures respond to a Pelosi controversy with attacks on her looks
I hope this ends soon, for Pelosi's sake, otherwise the GOP is going to continue to grind her up and spit her out.
Even comedians are making fun of her looks
"They say Nancy Pelosi was aware, as far back as 2003 that we tortured and didn't raise any questions about it. Which raises the big question: what did Nancy Pelosi know, and when was she going to tell her face?" --Bill Maher
I guess I'd rather people make fun of my Botoxed face instead of my wrinkles!

The Shiftless No Accounts
FBI Director Robert Mueller and former Attorney General John Ashcroft cannot be sued by a former Sept. 11 detainee who claimed he was abused because of his religion and ethnicity, a sharply divided Supreme Court said Monday in a decision that could make it harder to sue top officials for the actions of low-level operatives.

CIA Can't Do Their Job And Not Break The Law -- I Guess That's What This Means
Battered by
recriminations over waterboarding and other harsh techniques sanctioned by the
Bush administration, the CIA is girding itself for more public scrutiny and is
questioning whether agency personnel can conduct interrogations effectively
under rules set out for the U.S. military, according to senior intelligence
officials.
Harsh interrogations were only one part of its clandestine activities against
al-Qaeda and other enemies,
and agency members are worried that other operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan
will come under review, the officials said.
