Bush's loss of flying status should have spurred probe

By Walter V. Robinson and Francie Latour, Globe Staff, 2/12/2004

President Bush's August 1972 suspension from flight status in the Texas Air National Guard -- triggered by his failure to take a required annual flight physical -- should have prompted an investigation by his commander, a written acknowledgement by Bush, and perhaps a written report to senior Air Force officials, according to Air Force regulations in effect at the time…

BUSH A NO-SHOW AT ALABAMA BASE, SAYS MEMPHIAN Jackson Baker | 2/12/2004

MEMPHIS – Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain....

Bush's Duty, and Privilege

By BOB HERBERT New York Times 2-13-04

…Mr. Bush favored the war in Vietnam, but he had the necessary clout to ensure that he wouldn't have to serve there. He entered the Texas Air National Guard at the height of the war in 1968 by leaping ahead of 500 other applicants who were on a waiting list….

The longer Bush doesn't provide his records, the better it will be for the Democratic candidate.  Thank God the press is finally doing it's job.

George W. Bush's Lost Year in 1972 Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Feb. 2 (PS) — The result of an investigation into George W. Bush's lost year in 1972 reveals a cocky privileged son who used his family connections to avoid military service in Vietnam and spend seven months in Alabama partying. He clearly skipped out on National Guard duty and avoided a mandatory drug test, all while learning the politics of "dirty tricks," deception and coded racism in the land of George Wallace...

Do As I Say

Bush's empty nuke-proliferation rhetoric.
Slate - 2-13-04

The premise of Bush's plan—which he outlined on Wednesday in a speech at the National Defense University—is that there's a fatal flaw in the 34-year-old NPT. He's right about this. Under Article 6, nations that refrain from producing nuclear weapons will receive assistance in obtaining the fuel for nuclear power plants. The loophole—which Iran, North Korea, and possibly others have exploited—is that, with the right knowledge and hardware, a nation can enrich or reprocess this fuel into weapons-grade uranium. It takes a lot of effort, money, and time, but it can be done.

I've been reading about the search within the Alabama Air National Guard for anyone who saw George W Bush during 1972-73. So far the search has come up empty. So far they've interviewed supervisors and personal of the maintenance squadron, the supply squadron, headquarters staff, flight safety and flight operations center. I believe they're asking the wrong people If ANYONE would have seen GWB, it would the bartenders at the officer's club.

Oracle

Hahha...I have been trying to think of a toon along that same line!!  It is amazing that no one remembers serving with Bush in Alabama. I am even more amazed that Dubya hasn't paid someone to lie.

Soldier Accused of Trying to Aid al-Qaida

AP - Fri Feb 13, 3:05 AM ET

A National Guardsman was arrested Thursday and accused of trying to provide information to the al-Qaida terrorist network, the Army said.

"The White House released documents it claims validates the president's (National Guard) service ... When deciphered the documents showed that in a one-year period, 1972 and 1973, Bush received credit for nine days of active National Guard service. The traditional term of service then and now for the National Guard is one weekend a month and two full weeks a year, meaning that Bush's nine-day stint qualifies him only for the National Guard's National Guard. That's the National Guard's National Guard, an Army of None." -

More Questions for President Bush

· why do you insist on bringing America to her knees?

· Do you think that it is right for you to select the panel members that are
supposed to investigate your actions on "wmds"?

· Were any of the guys you jumped over to get into the National
Guard killed in Viet Nam?

· After receiving several hundred thousand dollars worth of flight training at
taxpayers' expense, you decided not to take your flight physical in 1972, lost
your flight status, and never flew again for the Guard. Why did you refuse to
take your physical? Is it a coincidence that 1972 was the year that the U.S.
military started performing random drug tests during physical exams?

· why martha stewart and not ken lay???

· Two questions: In your No Child Left Behind Act your plan is to eliminate
funding for schools who have students who fall behind. Isn't this just the
opposite of what needs to be done? Shouldn't more money be provided to get more
teachers who do a better job and or to reduce the class size and the child to
teacher ratio?

Will you debate the Democratic challenger one on one?

· Where does "The buck stop"?

· have you ever had sexual relations with janet jackson or justin timberlake?

· Sucka, what you been puttin' up YOUR nose?

· What the hell is up with your criminal family? What are you getting out of
running the nation? When you say "I will be re-elected", when were you ever
elected? Last I heard, you were APPOINTED. And lastly, where do you get the
good pot at? Ashcroft & Co. have been shutting down the cannabis clubs all over
the California Bay Area, so it can't be there... Seems like you're smoking a
lot of it... since you can't remember a damn thing whether it be what you said
about WMD's and Saddam or your service in the Guard!!!

· Mr. President, when you told Tim Russert you knew that Saddam had "weapons" are
you now leaving out the words "of mass destruction" in order to include pointy
sticks?

· Back to your TANG days, why didn't you show up for that physical exam to retain
your flight status in 1972? Were you worried about the blood test?

· As you attempt to win your first presidential election, do you honestly believe
a President Gore would have come close to duplicating your performance and
earned a place in history as the biggest single mistake this country has ever
made.

· do you have any information on capital punishment

· Why do you place corporate profits above environmental protections?

· Mr. Bush, do you think you have done enough damage to the public trust to
warrant impeachment??
Clinton only was involved with a blow job, while your completely f*cking the
country over.

· How do you sleep at night you murdering pig?

· We all know that you lied to us about iraq, medicare and prescription drugs. If
it was so improtant to lie to us, what is it that you are afraid of ??
oh I know --THE TRUTH

· who are you going to blame and what new lies are you going to say when you find
out that you cannot buy your way in to the white house in november ???

· are you really the idiot you appear to be?

· What are you so afraid of that the 9/11 commission will reveal about you and
your administration?

· Would YOU go on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney?
· What is your IQ?

· What day will you capture Osama Bin Laden to help your re-election effort? We
know you know where he is.

· was your daddy your cocaine connection as head of the CIA or did you have to buy
on the streets?

· are you really the idiot you appear to be?

Thank you all for the great questions.
