Israel planned to kill Hussein in 1992
Baltimore Sun, MD - 12-17-03

...The assassination plans included gliders laden with explosives, a television-guided missile launched from a plane and a disguised bomb sold to a member of Hussein's entourage.

But fears that one of Hussein's legendary doubles would be hit instead of Hussein himself stalled the planning and sent Israeli military and intelligence planners back to the drawing board....

Saddam should be executed, Bush says
Fort Worth Star Telegram, TX - 12-17-03

...The president's comments raised the question of whether he crossed a line of propriety by intruding into the realm of the judiciary in pronouncing judgment of guilt and a recommended sentence for a man awaiting trial. Because Saddam is in the custody of the U.S. military, which Bush heads as commander in chief, his opinion holds considerable weight and risks, at the least, roiling global diplomatic waters....

NewsFlash Exclusive from All Hat No Cattle

Dear Lisa:
Dateline: Frozenover, Montana. The United States Department of Homeland Security has shot down Santa Claus. In an exclusive report made to AHNC, Capt. Bucky Brown revealed that a squadron of F-16's had in fact fired on the Christmas elf when Claus refused to answer a radio call requesting proper identification. Saint Nick hadn't filed the proper flight plan and there was nothing the Air Force could do except, follow the orders issued by DHS. A team of special investigators also revealed that there were no survivors. This reporter interviewed one of the eyewitnesses to the massacre and, Mr. Elmer Gonover of Snotslick, Idaho stated, "it was raining barbequed reindeer and it was horrible. My children were so upset that Mother had to take them home and put them to bed." Mr. Gonover also stated that, "once the wife had taken the kids, I gathered up some of the meat and it wasn't to bad."
There you have it, Lisa. I have a feeling that this is going to be some bad juju. Christmas is never going to be the same. I contacted the White House for a response but, they had 'no comment'. Doesn't that just figure.

Lisa, Hope everything is well with you. I’m still firing away in the local paper. This one may sound somewhat preachy, but I’m way beyond annoyed with folks who won’t take the time to look for the facts. If the average American citizen doesn’t wake up and smell the corruption soon, it’s gonna be too late.

You can use it if you’d like. See ya! And keep up the good work!!

Andy B.

I admit it. I’ve spent most of my life in a state of pseudo-certainty--believing what I believe, simply because I believe it--making little effort to look for the truth, just assuming if I needed to know it the nightly news would surely tell me.

Then along came the 1990s and hunting season on all things Clinton, followed by the weirdness of the 2000 election, and then that awful day in September of 2001. I figured I had two choices: stay bogged down in America’s mega media wasteland, littered with faux news, flashy sound bites, and blowhard pundits; or make an effort to look for real truth.

If you don’t know about Richard Mellon Scaife, the Federalist Society, and the Arkansas Project, you won’t understand what the Clinton wars were really about. If you haven’t read the books “The Hunting of the President” and “Blinded by the Right” you can’t understand the political forces poisoning this country over the past decade.

If you’re unfamiliar with Greg Palast’s reporting, and you haven’t visited the US Commission on Civil Rights website, there’s little chance you really understand the 2000 election. If you’ve not read about the Project for a New American Century and you aren’t following the reporting of economist and columnist Paul Krugman you won’t understand how political exploitation of 9/11 has put our Country on a dangerous, potentially disastrous path.

If an incurious public is poorly served by an easily manipulated and less-than-diligent media, the powerful can deceive and mislead, and nations can end up on the wrong side of history. If we choose to remain uninformed, then democratic accountability is dead, and we as citizens have failed. To paraphrase a wise saying, "Citizens who behave like sheep will ultimately be governed by wolves."

Dear Andy,

Thank you.  Maybe if we keep repeating the truth enough times as the unrighteous right keeps repeating lies, democracy may return to this country.

Dear Lisa:
The NASA picture on your site for November 16, 2003 requires a little 'prophetic' interpretation. The pictured arm and hand is the universe giving the entire planet earth the old one-finger salute. Or, as it is known in the vernacular, f--- off! Considering how miserably, the denizens of the earth are treating terra firma, this is the best message the universe could muster.
