Bush asks easier access for immigrant workers
Cape Cod Times, MA - 1-7-04
...In a bid to end decades of restrictive immigration policies, Bush will call for the creation of a guest-worker program that would open the borders to immigrants seeking low-skilled, low-wage jobs. It would also let the estimated 8 million workers who are here illegally get legal status by joining the guest-worker program....

...The proposal has widespread support in the business community, especially among industries that depend on foreign workers, such as restaurants, agriculture and landscape services....
180000 Illegal Korean Immigrants in the US May Receive Legal Status
Donga, South Korea -1-7-04
...The former Clinton administration enacted a provision, known as section 245i, to restore the status of illegal workers and permit their stay in the U.S. while waiting for green cards. However, since the 9/11 terrorist attack, the Bush administration has maintained stringent policy against illegal immigrants by delaying its plan to set up a green card application period....
Easing way for migrants could boost Bush in 2004
Tucson Citizen, AZ - 1-7-04
... "If the president offers a narrow package of reforms in a short-term political bid to win Hispanic votes in November, I don't think it will work,"..."I hope the administration's long awaited re-involvement in this fundamental debate is genuine, and not because of an election-year conversion," said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., a leading proponent of immigration reform...

Why do I get this nagging feeling that BushInc. will turn this into legalized slavery?

Rover ’ s images already yield some surprises
Quad City Times, IA - 1-7-04

...The most mysterious part of the landscape, however, is literally at the rover’s feet — the area where its air bags were retracted after landing.
It looks to researchers like there is a layer of “strangely cohesive” material that breaks away in pieces. “It’s not like anything I have seen before. … It looks like mud, but it can’t be mud” because there is no free water, Squyres said.
“The way in which this surface has responded to dragging the air bags is bizarre,” he said. “I don’t understand it; nobody on the team understands it.”...

"Yes! We finally captured Martha Stewart. You know, with all the massive and almost completely unpunished fraud perpetrated on the public by companies like Enron, Global Crossing, and Tyco we finally got the ring leader. Maybe now we can lower the nation's terror alert to periwinkle." —Jon Stewart

Stepdad plays David against legal Goliath
Press Herald, ME – 1-7-04

Two young arsonists...an inflatable boat used by the Secret Service to protect the Kennebunkport home of George and Barbara Bush, and a $21,000 boat engine owned by the former president..... Some even wondered if George H.W. Bush himself had asked the Justice Department to throw the book at the two young arsonists.

The day Secret Service agents first appeared at the family's door, they told Collier her son had committed a "terrorist act."...

I wonder how the media would have covered the above story if it was about Bill Clinton? 24/7? or 24/7/365?

'Texan of Year' award seeing double
San Antonio Express, TX - Jan 5, 2004
NEW BRAUNFELS — When Michael Meek saw in a newspaper story Monday that President Bush had been named Texan of the Year, he was confused for a second.
After all, the Texas Legislative Conference had given Bush its Texan of the Year award in 2002 and won't publicly announce this year's recipient until later this week.

Then he realized Bush had been named Texan of the Year by the Dallas Morning News on Sunday as the first honoree in what the newspaper intends to be an annual award...

ps. Miami FTAA demo was very scary.
A cop told my friend Jay that he wished he could take him in an
alley, shoot him in the brains and eat them for soup.

Thanks for writing Terry.  The Cuban mentality of the right have dictated Miami politics for years--political corruption up the ying yang too numerous to list---they want you to do it their way or the highway.  It is only a matter of time before this thug mentality will cause another Kent State, by police who use these kind of tactics..  You think we would have learned our lesson.

See below regarding the classy Joe Scarborough.

TAYLOR: I would like Mr. Bush to tell me to name one majority Mexican neighborhood he would like to live in, one majority Mexican school he‘d like his children to attend.

It‘s all very well...

GRISWOLD: You need to get out and see this country.

TAYLOR: Hey, then you name one yourself. Name one Mexican neighborhood you‘d like to live in.

This is typical. These are people who say, OK, this is great. I don‘t care if these Mexicans are going to live 20 or 30 in a house, because it‘s not my daughter who‘s going to look across the back fence and see them urinating in their yard. No, I‘m happy to get a guy who can mow the lawn for $2 an hour and that‘s all I care about. This is a much bigger question.

GRISWOLD: Joe, this is not worthy of your show.
